Short Bio
My name is Manolis Lianis. I was born in Athens in 1986, and I am a musician, audio engineer, and member of the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA).
I graduated from the Department of Music Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, earning a degree with an integrated master’s-level title in the field of Music Technology. I have studied advanced music theory with composer Nikos Drelas and received degrees in Harmony, Counterpoint, and Fugue from the Neoclassical Conservatory. I also attended a three-year workshop on music composition at the National Theater of Greece, led by composers Nikos Kypourgos and Kornilios Selamsis.
From a young age, I developed a love for music and sound, singing and recording on portable cassette players. A bit later, I began learning guitar and drums. During my teenage years, I was an amateur radio broadcaster, took part in artistic circles, and became interested in composition and music technology. After finishing school, I started writing songs and music, joined bands, collaborated with artists, and founded the music production studio “Tender Sounds.” For several years, I also worked as a music teacher in conservatories and other educational institutions.
Today, I work professionally as a music producer and audio engineer, while focusing on music creation through algorithmic processes. At the same time, I continue my research activity in the field of soundscape studies, expanding on my undergraduate thesis titled:
"Spatial Recording and Analysis of the Urban and Rural Soundscapes of Naxos."
